Junior Camp - 9th -11th August 2014, Stockland Lovell
Horse and Hound Competition - 7th December 2013
In early December Banwellians, 4 ponies and 4 dogs set off to the South West Equine Fair at West Point Arena, Exeter for the Horse & Hound Challenge.
As a show jumping course, the jumps are modest in height belying the difficulty of jumping in a small arena with hundreds of spectators tightly packed on all sides. Banwell's jockeys (Hannah Bishop, Thomas Pritchard, Megan Tucker and Charlotte Withers) did a good job incurring limited faults and with Hannah's and Charlotte's precision rounds being serious contenders for the overall style award.
The hounds and their runners (for Banwell: Sammy King, Evie Knapman, Pepper Pritchard and Millie Watkins) were the real crowd pleasers. However what had seemed like a small track for the ponies seemed somewhat larger for the girls and their hounds. Needless they all completed with particularly fast rounds from Sammy (with Rufus) and Pepper (with Pippi).
Once the judges had done their tally, Team Banwell was placed 2nd and all that remained was to collect the prizes, pose for photos and head out for a spot of Christmas shopping.

Avon Vale InterBranch Show jumping at West Wilts 28 & 29th December
Just after Christmas, a number of Banwellians headed to West Wilts for two days of jumping:
The 60cm contenders included Lottie Fear, Tara Coyle, Pepper Pritchard, Ellie Kennedy and Thomas Pritchard. In spite of some lovely double clears from Thomas, Tara and Ellie, there weren't any placings.
In the 70cm, Alex Coyle joined the teams and she jumped a great double clear. Thomas collected a technical 4 faults for crossing his tracks after missing an ambitious turn in the jump off and Ellie had an unlucky run out. Tara, Lottie and Pepper, having all taken a tumble at some point during the day, went on to complete to many cheers from their team members and supporters.
In the 80, Alex and Thomas jumped for Banwell - Alex was unfortunate to roll a pole but Thomas was clear and fast and placed 2nd in a large class.
Syston inter-branch team SJ at West Wilts on 1st December
Another great day for the Banwell team, this time at the Syston inter-branch team SJ at West Wilts on 1st December. Some very fast times and tough competition with over 70 riders this time made for a fun day with everyone managing clear rounds!
Banwell secured a very respectable 4th place in both 2’3 and 2’6 classes out of over 20 teams. A special mention to Thomas ‘speedy’ Pritchard and Banana for their individual 3rd (class 1), 4th (class 2) and 3rd (class 3) and Charlotte Withers & Alfie for individual 5th in Class 3. And Sammy King who finally managed a calm and controlled effortless clear round on Paddy in Class 3, even though she lost him in the car park afterwards!
Maja Hullah & Megan Tucker were also within the winning teams. See pictures

Kingsedgemore Mini Eventers Challenge Sunday 17th November
A great (if not long!) day out with Banwell bringing the rosettes home again! Well done to Daisy Ross, Sammy King, Megan Tucker, Ella Brown, Alex Coyle and Tara Coyle for tackling a challenging and very lengthy SJ/XC course. Out of around 20 teams we managed a very respectable 4th in the 2ft and 6th in both the 2'3 and 2'6 classes.
It was really good to see the girls all supporting one another and having great fun as a team. We are looking for more members to join the teams for future events - don't wait to be asked, just give Jo King a call on 07825 261142 or email me on

Well done to the team, Maja Hullah had an unlucky stop in the first class which was a shame as it was very fast, Anya Waugh went double clear and third and their mix and match team were 4th . Having worked hard and qualified for the Intermediate Championships, Holly and Zara headed off on the long trek (4hrs in total) to the Intermediate Championship at Cholmondley Castle, Cheshire; the journey ended with the wheel nuts on Emma's lorry coming loose a mile from the site so a bit of a limp to the campsite resulting in the lorry being recovered on the Monday!
